Chelsea Yacht Club Launches 2010 Youth Sailing Program
The Chelsea Yacht Club is making preparations for its 2010 Youth Sailing Program. This program is open to member children of our fellow HRBYCA clubs. The program is for children ten years and older and will be held June 28–July 16 and July 26–Aug 13 as follows:
June 28-July 2 | 9:00AM - 4:00PM | Youth Sail Week 1 |
July 5-9 | 9:00AM - 4:00PM | Youth Sail Week 2 |
July 12-16 | 9:00AM - 4:00PM | Youth Sail Week 3 |
July 26-30 | 9:00AM - 4:00PM | Youth Sail Week 4 |
August 2-6 | 9:00AM - 4:00PM | Youth Sail Week 5 |
August 9-13 | 9:00AM - 4:00PM | Youth Sail Week 6 |
The program ends with a fun day of racing and a family BBQ on August 14.
Registration is on-going until all weeks are full. However, there will be a swim test on June 19th. New sailors must sign-up for a minimum of two weeks.
The goals of the program are to initiate a life-long learning experience that will continue to encourage growth in the sport of sailing, to develop self-confidence, encourage teamwork, and to promote good sportsmanship through a structured program in a safe environment.
The program covers water safety, seamanship, basic to advanced boat handling, and racing. Instruction is carried out in Club-supplied boats. Our Youth Sailing counselors are US Sailing Association-certified.
