One of the oldest boat clubs in the Hudson Valley the Newburgh Yacht Club sits at the base of the resurgent historic district of Newburgh NY.  The Newburgh Yacht Club was organized as the Newburgh Canoe and Boating Association in 1885. In the early years they became known as the "Dock Rats" because the Headquarters apparently was in the almost inaccessible recesses of a dock storehouse at the foot of Fourth Street. They took their name to heart and for years the white flag with the black rat was their club insignia.

NYC moved to the new building located on what was known as the LeRoy Estate and what we now know as Park Place in 1905. It was not until Memorial Day, May 30, 1905 that the Club was formally opened to the membership by the annual flag raising and boat regatta. We follow this honored tradition to this day during our "Blessing of the Fleet".

The actual records are missing which would tell of the organizations' incorporation as the Newburgh Yacht Club and of the old "Rat" burgee to the present design in red, white, and blue with a crescent superimposed over the blue. The Newburgh Yacht club has existed for over 100 years at the same location through the hard work, dedication, and shared passion for boating by its members. And its location on the west shore of the majestic Hudson River provide a beautiful and historic back drop!

The NYC offers a stunning view of Mount Beacon, Bannermans Island and Storm King. NYC is truly a world class facility that is maintained by the eclectic and talented membership. NYC has transient slips available, a gas dock, swimming pool and an excellent restaurant. Please look in through the site for more information on area amenities and the Newburgh area.

The lively Front Street section of Newburgh is a few hundred yards south of our marina and features shopping, restaurants, nightclubs, Tour boat rides and a host of Newburgh city sponsored activity. The Newburgh Yacht Club is a member of the Hudson Valley Marina Association and invites members of any and all these facilities to stop by and visit the NYC!
